Omnia.9 FM/AM: Exceptional Audio Integrity With Unrivaled Flexibility.

Now AM or FM On Demand.

So, is this just another variation of an existing product with new badges and some fancy marketing? Absolutely not. Omnia.9 is based on a completely new platform which is unlike anything ever offered within the Omnia family. Omnia.9 is like nothing else on the market today. It was designed over a several year period by Leif Claesson, with a completely different processing philosophy than any other processor.

The character of the Omnia.9 is formed by the unique features within the processor. The psychoacoustic distortion masking clipper allows for virtually distortion-free audio (including IM distortion), even at competitive loudness levels, resulting in unprecedented clarity on air, for both FM and AM. It even allows 140% audio peaks at 100% modulation when using composite output for clear highs even with 75us pre-emphasis.

One of the most talked about features is the exclusive Omnia "Undo" technology, which corrects over-processed source material which is so prevalent in contemporary music. Undo literally removes the distortion (de-clipping) and restores dynamics (de-compression).

Also included is intelligent multi-stage wideband AGC with side-chain equalization for unobtrusive gain riding over a 36dB range. A separate bass processor with transient enhancement maintains a powerful bass punch. 2 to 7 bands of multiband AGC and limiting allow for full control over spectral balance and consistency. Rock-solid ITU-BS.412 MPX Power controller for competitive loudness and peace of mind. Exclusive "Auto Pilot"? feature suppresses the 19 kHz stereo pilot during mono material for a radical 12dB signal-to-noise improvement when you need it the most. Omnia.9 has onboard Omnia Direct, which is the ability to deliver MPX composite base band over AES.

Omnia.9 also stands apart from the rest with its impressive array of monitoring options. A very low-latency independent Studio Output is provided for talent monitoring, while hundreds of patch points within the signal path allow monitoring of audio as it passes through various input, output, and processing stages. These patch points are also available on the built-in oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and RTA instrumentation to provide a corresponding visual reference. Patch points can be monitored locally or seamlessly streamed through the included remote software, all without affecting any on-air output. A built-in speaker calibration feature simplifies creating a reference environment to ensure accurate processing adjustments. Dual independent power supplies are also standard.

For those who want even more, any Omnia.9 can be upgraded to the complete Omnia.9 multi-media toolkit, which includes separate processing cores for HD-1, HD-2 and HD-3 audio, and IP stream encoding with independent processing for each source. Supports encoding to MP3 (MPEG-1 Layer 3), MP2 (MPEG-1 Layer 2), AAC, HE-AAC (AAC+), Ogg Vorbis, WMA and WMA Pro. Supports encoding to HTTP push support for automation (such as dynamic RDS and streaming song titles, and schedule-based preset day-parting).

  • This corrects over-processed CDs, so common in today's contemporary music.
  • Multiband downward expansion (source noise reduction)
  • 3-stage wideband AGC with adjustable sidechain equalization
  • Program-dependent multiband compression
  • Multiband look-ahead limiting
  • Adjustable dynamic bass clipping (future feature)
  • Selectable phase linear high pass filter, 15, 30 or 45 Hz
  • (For Digital) Two-band final look-ahead limiting
  • Fully automatic program-dependent declipper and multiband expander for damaged content such as loud CDs
  • Optional streaming encoding built in for Primary Digital (HD) and Secondary (HD2) and Tertiary (HD3).
  • Supports encoding to MP3 (Mpeg-1 Layer 3), MP2 (Mpeg-1 Layer 2), AAC, HE-AAC (including RTSP/3G for streaming to mobile phones), Ogg Vorbis, WMA and WMA Pro.
  • 7 inch front panel touch screen
  • Full remote control
  • On-screen keyboard with several layouts (QWERTY, QWERTZ, AZERTY, Dvorak and ABC sequential) for easy setup and preset name typing
  • Optional RDS encoder, dynamically updateable
  • Selectable SSB (Single Sideband) stereo encoder
  • HTTP push support for automation, such as dynamic RDS and streaming song titles, preset recall
  • Dayparting (scheduled preset selection) (future feature)
  • Studio Output with very low latency for talent monitoring
  • Dual independent power supplies
  • Composite pass-through (relay bypass) for your backup processor
  • Omnia.9 Dual Path
  • Two Independent Programming Paths For FM+FM or FM+AM
  • Processing for two distinct program paths for FM or AM, and can even process FM+FM+AM if AM station is a 100% simulcast of one of the two FM stations.
  • FM + FM, each with its own HD-1 and streaming processor/encoder
  • FM + FM, each with its own HD-1 and streaming processor/encoder, plus AM (providing the AM audio is a simulcast of one of the FM stations and is co-located)
